The Latest and Greatest Wedding Reception Trends - 2012

Weddings, don't you just love them? The cherished moment as the loving couple take their vows and embark upon a journey of love and life-long commitment to each other. The classical exit from the ceremonial venue as the newlywed couple are greeted by the flashes of cameras and the air being filled with the emotional cheers of their loved ones who enthusiastically shower them with confetti.

This is the biggest day of their life, especially for the Bride who undoubtedly has been planning this event since she was about twelve years old! With that being said, everything has to be as close to perfect as possible because lets face it, a wedding is a once in a lifetime thing... well hopefully.

So now this brings me to the main body of the article, a look at some of the new Wedding trends 2012 has to offer!

The first trend I'm about to inform you of has been exponentially growing in popularity this year and is absolutely fantastic. Two words... Photo booth! Now if you haven't heard of this tidy new product you're probably thinking of some old mundane machine that you find in train stations... you couldn't be more wrong.

This spectacular piece of equipment is more than just a box you sit in to take pictures.

It features a HD video recording camera which starts rolling as soon as you draw the curtain giving guests the option to leave a video message before taking four high quality digital pictures. The booth prints two copies, one for your guests to take with them and the other copy goes into your guest book along with a message. You even have a booth director on standby the whole time! All your pics and video messages are uploaded to a website where you can obtain a password and view them again and again from anywhere in the world. Guests are able to use the props that come along with the booth and you can also customize and theme the background.

All round I have to say I absolutely love this product and I'm sure you will too.

Color themes are another big thing this year with bright pinks against nudes and pales leading the way. With the use of mood and up lighting, a whole wall surface can be dramatically transformed into a color of your choice or you can have a scheduled color change where the light changes periodically constantly changing the room into a variety of colors. The black and white theme has also made a strong comeback this year along with black and hot pink which seems to be increasingly making its mark at Wedding receptions.

Also, Ballroom themes are all the rage right now with feathers replacing balloons and adorning center pieces

Some may be surprised that the traditional Wedding cake just may be on its way to being replaced by... wait for it... cupcakes! Yes you read it right! These little things are causing up quite a stir with many Brides preferring this new incentive to the more traditional multiple layer wedding cake. These cakes are professionally designed to the request of the customer and are stacked one on top of another in a tower like fashion.

Some opt to have the individual names of guests on each cake ensuring everyone invited receives one and the number of cakes is based upon the number of guests attending. Apart from being delicious this also means they eliminate the need to cut multiple slices of cake... brilliant!

Another focal point feature making an unexpected comeback is the mighty chocolate fountain. Yes after being relegated for the past few years this tasty delicacy has oozed its way back into the popularity stakes and rightfully so. The smell of sweet Belgian chocolate filling the air as it seductively cascades down the sides of a five-tier fountain in all its glory... need I say more? Well maybe just a little... some companies send along uniformed staff to maintain the fountain and keep it clean so no worries about any potential mess! Lovely!

Now the Brides bouquet this year has made the decision to downsize, smaller is better with a more basic and contemporary look. Supposedly the bigger bouquet isn't as flattering for the bride and doesn't look as good in pictures but the bouquet isn't the only thing to be downgraded. Many Brides are now opting for artificial flowers instead of real ones in order to cut costs, which isn't a bad idea seeming as floristry bills commonly run into the thousands easily!

The last of the Wedding trends for today are classic candelabra's and the displaying of different sized centerpieces. The martini glass center piece is still a big hit this year along with decorative bird cages and I almost forgot to mention the LED furniture that's been creating quite a buzz. Poseur tables and chairs covered with Lycra and illuminated from beneath bringing a warm glow to the reception room and creating a spectacular ambiance.

Okay so that's it for today but be sure to stay tuned for more of my trends and Wedding related articles, until then I bid you good day and thank you for reading.
